The artist’s former government name was Kanye Omari West. Now, he will officially go by the name, Ye.

After filing a name change petition back in August, his petition was recently granted. This past Monday, Judge Michelle Williams of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County granted the change.

He had heavily hinted in his decision as far back as 2018 when he released his 8th studio album “Ye.”

In a 2019 interview with Big Boy TV, he explains the reasoning behind wanting the name “Ye” and its biblical meaning.

“ye” is “the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means ‘you.”’

He further proved to fans by posting an Instagram pic last night of the back of his haircut which features “Ye” as the main design. A rare glimpse of West’s uncovered after several months of Ye wearing a variety of high-fashion masks and full-face coverings.

The name change is just one of a few recent major changes in his life: His wife, Kim Kardashian, officially filed for divorce back in February.

His latest album, “Donda” is currently #9 on the Billboard 200.

Everyone is looking forward to what’s next for Ye this year.
